Production Assistant

In the role of Production Assistant, you will join an established SMARTester production team, carrying out SMARTester calibration, repairs and assembly. The successful candidate will also assist with incoming first line support calls from users on an ad-hoc basis.

Steve Vick International (SVI) is dedicated to delivering cost-saving solutions for damaged, redundant, or outdated underground pipework. Since its foundation in 1981, SVI has been at the forefront in developing products and techniques for the repair, renovation and decommissioning of pipes. Predominantly our work has been in the gas industry but increasingly we are undertaking projects in the water and nuclear sectors.   As we expand our operations and diversify our products, this position will support the ongoing development of our innovative wireless pressure testing system.

Job Type:                                           Permanent, full-time office based, Monday to Friday, 8:30 – 17:00, 37.5 hours per week
Salary:                                                Dependent on experience
Location:                                         Bradford on Avon (Avonworks Office)

 

You will:

SMARTester Production

  • Assemble SMARTester units including electronics and soldering of components
  • Establish and maintain effective quality controls, ensuring products are assembled to a high standard
  • Maintain accuracy, reliability and operational efficiency of each SMARTester unit by carrying out thorough calibrations
  • Conduct meticulous quality inspections of each SMARTester unit and its components
  • Repair and clean returned devices
  • Consistently follow best practice production in line with policies and training guidelines
  • Organise and direct your own work, with attention to quality, productivity and safety
  • Carry out regular stocktakes and flag any supply issues with relevant colleagues
  • Provide visibility to the department head of progress and notify early of any risks which may adversely affect any aspect of product delivery
  • Maintain up to date and accurate SMARTester documentation including the white board and ticketing system
  • Actively participate in industry training courses provided by SVI or external specialists

 

User Support

  • Provide cover for first line support calls, collating key information and capturing by way of help desk tickets
  • Undertake other support-related tasks as part of the wider SMARTester team

 

About you:

  • You will need to evidence practical production experience in a technical/engineering industry, together with a minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent
  • Most importantly you will understand the importance of both attention to detail and quality in your work
  • You can demonstrate a methodical and structured approach to your work
  • You will have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to follow, interpret and explain technical instructions
  • You can work both independently and as part of a wider team to help bring projects to successful completion
  • Confident user of IT software, including the standard Microsoft Office suite
