We are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager to help us keep growing. In this newly created role, you will be responsible for managing commercial relationships across the business and establishing a pipeline of new business opportunities.

We are seeking an individual who is skilled at developing a trusted advisory relationship with accounts, customer stakeholders and internal partners alike and someone who can embrace our Company values and truly reflect those in behaviours both internally and externally.

Steve Vick International (SVI) is dedicated to delivering cost-saving, innovative solutions for damaged, redundant, or outdated underground pipework. Since its foundation in 1981, SVI has been at the forefront in developing products and techniques for the repair, renovation and decommissioning of pipes. Predominantly our work has been in the gas industry but increasingly we are undertaking projects in the water and nuclear sectors.

You will:

  • Manage the commerciality of projects, assist and manage the creation of successful tenders, oversee projects from inception to completion and drive operational business metrics.
  • Seek to win high quality, competitive business opportunities by means of proposals which are fully compliant, on time and meet customer expectations.
  • Working cross-functionally, provide contractual advice, support and guidance during the tendering process.
  • Build and nurture client relationships to continue winning new contracts, working together with relevant departments to develop accurate and consistent bids.
  • Negotiate new projects and contract terms with new customers.
  • Attend networking events and build industry connections to facilitate business growth.
  • Undertake a regular review of relevant industry emerging and established markets.
  • Utilise data and insights to make strategic decisions and drive growth.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance.
  • Contribution to company business and commercial strategy including market and pricing.
  • Review and develop operational processes to improve performance and maximise growth.
  • Deliver internal reporting for the senior leadership team.
  • Develop successful, long-term, and strategic relationships across the business.

About you:

  • Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) with prior experience of 3+ years in a business development role.
  • Experience of modern manufacturing processes across construction projects, production, planning, health and safety, quality and logistics.
  • You can demonstrate commercial acumen to build and understand P&L to make strategic decisions and drive top and bottom-line growth.
  • A dynamic and self-starter individual, you will have demonstrable knowledge of both project management and risk management.
  • Experience of NEC3 contracts and the processes associated with them including Early Warning notifications and compensation events.
  • Using your analytical acumen, you will demonstrate excellent knowledge of laws and regulations and industry trends.
  • You possess solid financial skills, including financial reporting abilities.
  • You can think practically and logically, producing high quality work and overcoming issues to meet deadlines.
  • You will be able to communicate a wide range of information clearly and effectively, and influence at all levels of the business.
  • You are a strong communicator who can anticipate and deal with objections to achieve results.
  • You have great people skills and will thrive in a close-knit team environment.
  • Expert in the use of Microsoft Office and equivalent tools.
