Steve Vick International (SVI) is dedicated to delivering cost-saving solutions for damaged, redundant, or outdated underground pipework. Since its foundation in 1981, SVI has been at the forefront in developing products and techniques for the repair, renovation and decommissioning of pipes. Predominantly our work has been in the gas industry but increasingly we are undertaking projects in the water and nuclear sectors.

Job Type:                                            Permanent, full time, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00 (can be flexible) 37.5 hours per week

Role Purpose

This role is required to support the growing needs of the finance department and the wider business to ensure all accounting transactions and information is reported accurately and on time.

The department is responsible for the day-to-day financial activities, processing of all accounting information, reporting of data both internally and externally in order to assist the company to achieve its goals and objectives and meet all stakeholder and statutory requirements.

You will be responsible for the efficient and effective monitoring of customer accounts and credit rate activity. This includes ensuring customers aged debtors are maintained within company policy limits.

You will be an integral part of assisting with the Financial Audit and ensure all information provided is done so in a timely and efficient manner.

Working within a highly collaborative environment, you will operate within a small team and be prepared to help with a range of processing tasks and other department duties.

Competencies, Skills and Knowledge

  •  Working knowledge of accounting software
  • Good telephone and communication skills
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Solid mathematic skills with the ability to spot numerical errors and problem solve
  • Conversant with – Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and SharePoint

Key Duties/Responsibilities

To assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of financial transactions and maintaining integrity of financial records for the Company.

To bring to the attention of the Finance Manager, any matter that does not comply with the company’s policies or procedures or is likely to leave the company exposed to risk.

Specific Duties –

  • Produce and send out customer statements by the most efficient method and in the most effective format relating to the recipient and send overdue reminders to customers when required
  • Liaise with customer facing areas of the business to ensure relevant information is promptly reported to the necessary recipient
  • Processing daily sales cash
  • Produce the aged debtors report with analysis weekly
  • Maintain and monitor customers credit status using a variety of tools and methods
  • Process new customer credit applications and proforma accounts in accordance with the new customer policy and procedure
  • Make necessary adjustments to customer credit accounts and bring to the attention of the Finance Manager any that require further review
  • Liaise with the wider business to ensure relevant and detailed information is promptly reported to the necessary recipient
  • Assist with the processing of the sales ledger month end, reconciling and investigating any discrepancies
  • Assist with other month end processing on the ERP system as instructed
  • Update cash flow regularly
  • Assist with the maintenance of the vehicle fleet
  • Provide absence/holiday cover for the department as instructed
  • Prepare for and participate in the Year End Audit
  • Assist the Finance Manager and Financial Director with any other ad hoc duties as directed
