Steve Vick International Support Dorothy House During Pandemic

September 17, 2020

Steve Vick International are pleased to name Dorothy House Hospice as their chosen charity.

Charities have seen donations reduce significantly during the pandemic and Dorothy House Hospice has not been immune to this.  Numerous fundraising events, which bring much needed income to charities such as Dorothy House, have had to be cancelled or postponed including the Steve Vick Great Canal Journey, scheduled for July.

The team at SVI were aware that lost income, due to cancelled events such as theirs, would be devastating to Dorothy House Hospice.  It was this that drove the decision to donate £15,000 to the charity, the sum they had hoped to raise if the event had gone ahead.

Dorothy House Hospice provides compassionate care and support for people in the community with a life-limiting illness. The hospice’s patients fall into the high risk category for Covid-19, making this extremely challenging times for the charity.  Now more than ever their services are required to keep providing the care and support their patients so desperately need.

Crock Harrison, Managing Director at Steve Vick International commented:

“The SVI team made a commitment in 2020 to raise £15,000 for Dorothy House Hospice.  Sadly, we weren’t able to do that through our Great Canal Journey which had to be postponed.  We knew however, that we couldn’t let Dorothy House down in these most difficult times, which is why the decision was made that we would donate the amount we had hoped to raise.   The work they do at the charity makes a real difference to people’s lives and we wanted to do all we could to help in what will be a challenging year for them.”

The Great Canal Journey, which involved staff members, walking, running or cycling, in relay over 1000km between them along the Kennet & Avon Canal, from Reading to Bradford on Avon, will return in 2021.  The team at SVI are determined to make next year’s event even better in order to raise the maximum amount possible for Dorothy House.
