Technical Support Engineer

Main Responsibility
To be responsible for product technical support and sales efforts in all areas of the business, with a focus on the East Midlands and East of England UK gas industry and help achieve strategic objectives in other industries, such as water and hire.
Specific Responsibilities
- Key areas of responsibility within the Gas Distribution Network –
- Cadent, Construction Management Organisation (CMO) and the Local Delivery Partners (LDP’s) – specifically East Midlands and East of England
- To help identify location and set up of the proposed local depot
- To increase the awareness of Live Mains Insertion and ultimately increase its use
- To liaise with engineers from the UK GDN’s to assist in the planning and execution of projects involving the use of our products
- To run the local depot for Technical Support and ensure it is well maintained and stocked with all the necessary equipment with a view to hosting customer events such as meetings
- To assist where necessary with Hire equipment, Contract Services, and general meetings at the local depot
- To provide onsite technical assistance to customers with the use of our products
- To attend Gas industry events, NE&Y and Midlands sections (IGEM) and be responsible for organising exhibition equipment
- To prepare and present PowerPoint presentations at technical seminars
- To attend, organise and lead meetings with customers’ existing and new
- To be responsible for product training, technical content, and coordination
- To be responsible for collating all product support literature, materials and audio-visual aids needed, ensuring that current versions are being used
- To be involved in producing manuals and update existing ones as necessary
- To participate in new product development liaising with customers to ensure we meet their technical and safety requirements
- To be responsible for confirming new product specifications in conjunction with our customers
- To present a written report of your activities in sales meetings
- To work collaboratively with all staff involved in the sales effort across all markets
- When required, to support Contract Services in site surveys, manager level meetings etc.
- To carry out other activities as directed from time to time
- Attend Head Office in Bradford on Avon as and when required
Skills required
- To have sufficient knowledge of the technical details of the gas industry
- To have good knowledge and experience of the UK gas industry specifically in the East of England
- To be able to work using own initiative
- To take direction from management and to implement an agreed programme
- To be able to work as part of a team and to collaborate with colleagues on projects
- To be able to deal with customers and staff at all levels
- To be able to delegate as necessary
Terms
- Full time
- 8:30 – 17:00 (1 hour lunch)
- Monday – Friday
- On occasions, overnight stays will be necessary
