Steve Vick International (SVI) is dedicated to delivering cost-saving solutions for damaged, redundant, or outdated pipework. Since its foundation in 1981, SVI has been at the forefront in developing products and techniques for the repair, renovation and decommissioning of pipes. Predominantly our work has been in the gas industry but increasingly we are undertaking projects in the water and nuclear sectors.

In the role of Contracting Services Technician, you will be representing the company by conducting on site operations involving a comprehensive range of techniques and services.

We are looking for an individual who is skilled at building up strong and positive relationships, with the ability to always deliver a positive customer experience at every touch point.

Works with:                                   Contracting Services Colleagues and Management team
Responsible for:                           Company vehicle and kit
Job Type:                                           Permanent, Full time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Salary:                                              DOE

Role Purpose

To assist and carry out a broad range of on-site contracted service operations, using patented methods developed for mains abandonment and refurbishment techniques in the gas distribution sector

Support the team leader, when necessary, in the deployment of company equipment and techniques

Success Factors

Offering cost effective solutions to increase mains replacement revenue on behalf of our customers

Implementing operations that minimise intrusive excavations on the gas network

Demonstrating excellent customer care for all SVI customers

Competencies, Skills and Knowledge

An established background in the gas sector (NCO1, NCO2) would be a distinct advantage

You will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and passionate about the quality of the work you produce and the level of service you provide

You must be confident to work unsupervised and function as part of a team

You are a strong communicator who can anticipate and deal with objections to achieve results

You are willing to continuously learn new skills and techniques

A valid driving license is an essential requirement for the role due to daily travel

You are willing to occasionally travel away from home as required


Key Duties/Responsibilities

Coordinate restock of all necessary equipment at regional depo, ensuring it is loaded ready for the next job

Provide the administration team with accurate and complete job sheets

Maintain excellent knowledge of our portfolio of products and services to understand customer requirements

Test and maintain company assets and equipment to ensure that they function and meet safety standards

Keep company equipment in a clean, presentable condition and securely stored

Ensure all company vehicles are secure, clean and in a presentable condition

Actively maintain a culture of safety by assessing risks, following safe working practices and communicating with management when presented with an issue or problem

Protect the corporate image of SVI by always demonstrating professionalism and excellent, safe working practices

Continually strive for improvement, in both your direct and in-direct areas of responsibility

Carry out other specified duties as directed from time to time
