Sealing Pipes and Ducts
In addition to sealing pipes from remote locations, Steve Vick International (SVI) offer a range of products for sealing annular spaces around primary pipelines and for sealing the ends of pipes and ducts.
FOAMBAGS™ and FOAMCAPS™

Foam cap-end installation at Harwell BEPO storage block
The procedure involves introducing FOAMBAGS™ into a duct or pipe through an intrinsically safe hot tapping system. Once the foam inside the bag has cured (after 30 minutes) it can be safely cut through.
This technique has radically reduced exposure times and cost during glovebox removal at UK nuclear sites.
Projects and Awards
Steve Vick International’s techniques have been used across various UK nuclear sites over the past 20 years. One particularly noteworthy project took place at the Harwell site in Oxfordshire.

Harwell BEPO storage block on completion of Steve Vick International foam filling operation
The project involved designing bespoke caps and FOAMBAG’s™ and installing them to fill 250 ducts in the BEPO storage block. Click here to read the project report
The BEPO storage block project won ‘Best application of an innovative solution(s) with tangible savings/benefits – SME’ category at the NDA Estate Supply Chain Awards 2014. Click here to read the full story
Testing
The National Nuclear Laboratory has carried out tests on the cured foam used in Steve Vick International’s FOAMBAG™ and associated systems and have rated it as having an 8-10 year lifespan in an area with a background radiation level of 7–9Sv.
